Samson Projects is pleased to exhibit new works by Taylor Davis & Craig Drennen at NEXT.
"NEXT, a new invitational art fair, is installed in 150,000 square feet of space, to complement Art Chicago 2008, will offer focused curatorial visions of some of the most important developments in contemporary art."
Several new sculptures by Taylor Davis:Apple Knockers and Untitled (Virgin). Davis' works is currently included in Triple Candie's (NYC, NY) final exhibition Thank You For Coming and at Nancy Shaver's Henry (Hudson, NY). Her collaborative work with Nicole Cherubini will be on view in the fall at the MIT List Visual Art Center (Cambridge, MA).
Craig Drennen's 4 new paintings are based on the play Timon of Athens, written by William Shakespeare between 1605 & 1608, but not published until the folio of 1623. The only of his plays not performed in his lifetime. "The dramatis personae of the play have provided me an ample starting point. The Mistresses of Alcibiades are the first works from this series."
